Description
In Encounter in the Forest, the composition unfolds within a dreamlike space where forms seem to oscillate between presence and disappearance. Bold, luminous colours — greens, magentas, and cobalt blues — are laid in textured, rhythmic strokes that dissolve the boundary between figure and landscape. The forest is not a backdrop, but a living organism that absorbs and reflects the figures within it.
At the centre, a translucent female figure and a golden deer appear to recognize one another across the thicket. Their contours, traced in fine luminous lines, suggest both fragility and revelation — a moment suspended between the visible and the imagined. The outlined forms evoke the act of vision itself: what is seen, what is remembered, and what exists only in perception.
Symbolically, the encounter evokes the human search for meaning within the untamed subconscious. The deer, radiant yet elusive, mirrors the feminine figure’s introspection — a silent dialogue between intuition and nature. Through colour and texture, the painting transforms the forest into a psychological landscape, where the boundaries between inner and outer worlds blur, and the act of seeing becomes an act of self-recognition.
This work forms part of Tales of the Black Forest, a series that explores the dialogue between landscape and inner life — where the natural world becomes a metaphor for memory, transformation, and the invisible territories of the human psyche.
