Description
Monkey stirring the water acrylic painting belongs to the ANIMAL KINGDOM series. Here, the artist explores the relationship between humans and endangered wildlife.
In Arturo’s words: “This monkey painting is based on something that intrigued me some years ago. I saw a group of spider monkeys (Ateles fusciceps robustus) jumping and playing together at some animal shelter in the Peruvian jungle. Near the pond that was used as a natural barrier for them, there was a lonely monkey stirring up the water. He was sitting alone, playing with the small waves he created. I found that really interesting. Usually, monkeys avoid being in contact with big bodies of water. I create this painting mixing the colours directly on the paper.
